First, find the harbourage areas

This product works best in yards that contain plenty of vegetation that can be sprayed, such as hedges, trees, bushes and thick foliage.

We call these harbourage areas. These are the places mosquitoes and biting midges like to hang out during the day, away from the wind and sun.

Vegetation gives them shelter Hedges, bushes, trees and shaded foliage can protect mosquitoes and midges from sun and wind during the day.

Vegetation can also be a food source Mosquitoes and biting midges feed on leaf surfaces for carbohydrates, which helps fuel them when collecting blood to support their eggs.

It does not repel them — it treats the places they land

No Mosquitoes Biting Midge & Mosquito Barrier is a non-repellent insecticide. This means you actually want mosquitoes and biting midges to land on the treated surface.

The product works by coating the surfaces where mosquitoes and biting midges rest and feed. When the insect comes into contact with the treated surface, it is quickly killed. This helps turn treated surfaces into 24-hour-a-day mosquito and biting midge intercept zones.

Where to apply it

Treat the harbourage areas you identify around your property. For best results, the more vegetation you have treated around your usable outdoor areas, the better the result will generally be.

Steps for an effective treatment

Read the label Read thoroughly and always follow the APVMA approved label directions.

Choose the areas to protect Identify the usable outdoor areas you want to protect, such as patios, decks, pool areas or entertaining spaces.

Find harbourage areas Look for the shaded vegetation, structures and resting areas mosquitoes and biting midges are likely to use.

Treat and let dry Treat the identified harbourage areas around vegetation and structures, then allow the treatment to dry.

What sprayer should you use?

The sprayer you use will depend on what you have on hand and the size of the area you need to treat.

Small to medium suburban yards A hand pump or knapsack-style weed sprayer will usually do the job.

Larger properties A backpack mist blower or power sprayer may be more suitable for covering larger areas and heavier vegetation.

Professional spray tips

A good result depends on proper preparation, calm conditions and following the label directions.

Do not spray before rain If rain is predicted within 24 hours, do not treat. Rain can affect the longevity and effectiveness of the treatment.

Spray in calm conditions Do not spray in windy conditions. Wind can cause spray drift or shake the spray off leaves before it has time to dry.

Avoid washing or pruning Do not wash structures, heavily water or cut back treated vegetation within 1 week of treatment, as this may affect longevity.

Water carefully if needed If watering is needed, aim to water at the base of the plant or tree rather than washing treated foliage.

Let neighbours know If neighbours treat around the same time, the protected zone around your outdoor areas can become larger.

Avoid open flowers Avoid spraying open flowers and always follow the safety and application directions on the label.

Do not mix stronger than the label states Using a stronger concentration is not recommended and will not result in a more effective treatment. Follow the label directions for best results and environmental safety.
